RID OF Formula

“The only disability in life is a bad attitude.” – Scott Hamilton

I have developed the formula to “Get Attitude.” It is called the RID OF Formula. It is meant to help you get RID OF complacency, unhappiness, lethargy, bad health, bad habits, and most of all, your BAD ATTITUDE. It is a process that will get you to begin to dedicate yourself to a way of thought and could quite possibly turn it all around for you.

If you are tired of all the negativity in your life, all the lack of vitality in your health and relationships, and lastly, the feelings and realization that there is a better you inside, then use this formula to GET ATTITUDE!

R – RECOGNIZE your negative thought patterns (attitude) when it comes to whatever you want to change about your behavior or results. Truly identify how you think about it and why you think that way. Then go a little deeper and ask yourself, how do I feel about what I think? Why am I thinking this way? Why am I feeling this way? Unless, you become honest and recognize your negative thoughts and feelings toward a person, situation or occurrence you cannot begin to GET ATTITUDE and breakthrough.

I – IDENTIFY how these challenges (attitudes) limit your life. This step sounds easy. It is easy to talk and think about it to yourself, but I suggest you write it down. Then it sticks. The reality of what you are costing yourself becomes more tangible. I don’t care what it is, if you have a bad attitude about something, then that is costing you, somehow someway. Questions that you can ask yourself to identify what a negative or bad attitude is costing you are the following:

  1. What would be possible if I changed my attitude about this?
  2. What am I not getting in a physical or emotional sense when it comes to this challenge and my attitude about this challenge?
  3. Who else would benefit or appreciate it if I changed my attitude?
  4. How is this limiting my life?
  5. Am I a better more productive person having a negative attitude toward this challenge?

Search and find what the cost to you is, then write it down, stare at it and go to step three, Decide.

D – DECIDE you must change! Tony Robbins taught me this great saying, “Convert those “shoulds” into “musts” and your entire life changes.” So will your attitude. Many of us have attitude or thought processes that we feel we should change, but we don’t. Why? Because we don’t feel we must change. The R & I parts of this formula set you up to recognize and identify what you should do. The Decision part of the equation is where the attitude achievers and the attitude wishers separate. It is the difference between success and failure in any part of your life. Tony Robbins also points out that, “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is created.” I believe that it is in moments of decision about your attitude, your way of thinking, that change the direction and course of your life forever. Look around at the countless examples of what people have accomplished when they just DECIDED to!
